What Are Those Basic Ingredients for Hot Pot?


Basic ingredients for hot pot mainly refer to hot pot food, soup base and condiment sauce. Sauce for Chongqing hot pot, also called oil dish, generally is sesame oil which can prevent body from getting too much internal heat.
Hot Pot Food
Large varieties of food can be used for hot pot food, ranged from fly in the air, walking on the land and swimming in the water. According to the nature of food, it can be classified into seafood, freshwater fishes, poultry, livestock, vegetable, and processing product. Those for cooking and eating are almost suitable for hot pot food.
Hot Pot soup base
Generally speaking, it is made into red soup, but sometimes, white soup.
Red soup means spicy soup which made from concentrated soup and pepper, fermented soy, chili bean, salt, and rice wine.
While white soup is made from chicken, duck, pig bone, ham, meat, onion and ginger. But it often used with red soup, and barely used alone.
Condiment sauce
It is an indispensable part of hot pot. Commonly seen are sesame sauce, garlic sauce, red oil sauce, spicy sauce, pepper sauce and soybean sauce. Boiled food from hot pot is extremely hot, so put it into the sauce dish can decrease its temperature making it easy to put into mouth.
